In the German city Ulm, the university and rehabilitation clinic is planning a new building with additional 50 beds. The construction plans are already confirmed by the city of Ulm. Start of construction is January 2018. The contracts are already signed between the clinic and Hermann Kanne-Hunfeld, managing board of the Kanne Group Investment AG.
“We are glad about Kanne Group winning the bid after an already for years existing long-term collaboration”, says CEO Matthias Gruber.
At the clinic, Kanne is already running the café. The German construction company Drees & Sommer is a further working partner additional to the project.
It is planned that the new building is going up completely by own resources. However, the five-story addition is for the patients from orthopedic rehabilitation who can spend their night and recover in a single room with the character of a four-star hotel and an upper atmosphere. Because of the previous developments the investment is a logical conclusion to Gruber: “With the construction of the patient hotels and the associated restructuring we are able to offer an over sectoral supply chain in both orthopedic and neurological area.” Thereby, the optimal care of the patients at the highest stage have priority. The building is going to be planned modernly and generously to offer a perfect comfort. To Dr. Rainer Eckhardt, the medical director of the centrum for integrated rehabilitation, the hotel atmosphere is a matter of the heart. “For both physical and mental recovery the atmosphere and comfort are also essential besides offering an outstanding therapy for that we got compliments from our payers for years.”
With a connecting passage from the addition to the main building both medical and nursing care are given optimally. According to the medical director of the orthopedic university clinic, Prof. Dr. Heiko Reichel, he has had the wish to offer his patients after operations a single room with hotel atmosphere for a long time.
The additional area in the main building that is gained through the restructuring is going to be used for the expansion of the neurological early rehabilitation. Thereby there will be place for further 26 beds which means the university clinic will have 135 beds altogether.
